UNNA X
Ongoing Creative Direction + Development (Monocentric Music)
I met UNNA X (born Ashley Delima) at 17 years old, after having just moved back from Brazil to the US. She wanted to sing but had no professional experience in the music business. It was during the time when DACA recipients were in jeopardy of being deported. A daughter of Brazilian immigrants, she was the only person in her family who was allowed to stay here legally. I have worked with her closely from her debut release “Stay In America” through her upcoming EP “Nuns On Cocaine” as co-writer and lead creative developer, handling all aspects of her visual identity. “Stay In America” as well as her follow up single “Cigarette” have garnered critical acclaim for both audio and visual components.

“The video for the song is a masterpiece of its form. It recalls, for me, the best videos from the form’s halcyon days when MTV reigned supreme without ever striking a retro note and there are a number of compelling visual moments enhancing the song’s meaning and value. It’s filmed with the same evocative sense of dynamics driving the musical composition without ever being too heavy handed.”

“We have no teen in the media that is standing out and being a face for DACA and Ashley’s song and platform is perfect for helping get the word out about this serious issue. Ashley is the only person in her family that will be able to stay in our country.”
